Mental health is a phrase that gets thrown around frequently. But what is it?
Mental health is a combination of our physical, emotional, psychological, and social well-being. Our mental health directly affects how we cope with stress and difficult situations in life, while also helping us to make decisions that are in our best interest.
How is YOUR mental health?
I have been a mental health practitioner for 10+ years, with the majority of my experience focused on children and youth in schools. I have worked with students ranging from kindergarten to grade 12 at the Toronto District School Board, where I continue to support the needs of students from a trauma-informed lens and a strength-based perspective.
In addition to my training as a Child and Youth Worker, I have a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Ryerson University. I am currently completing my Master of Social Work degree at the University of Waterloo.
I really enjoy learning and find professional development very rewarding. I believe it is important for practitioners in this field to continue to obtain additional skills to help them grow.
With all my training, I am even more committed to providing you and your family with the support and coping strategies necessary to live a positive and healthy life without any stigma.
Now, more than ever, children, youth and adults need to have their mental health needs prioritized as the stresses of daily life are only increasing. Call me today to see how I can help.
After meeting with you to discuss your concerns, I will work with your child one-on-one to address any of their mental health needs.
We will work through their feelings and behaviour, and I will provide them with strategies and coping mechanisms as needed.
Have you been experiencing some new feelings that you are struggling to manage?
I am available to confidentially support you and your family through this challenging time in your life so that you can return to living a positive and healthy life.
I will meet with you one-on-one to help determine the steps that can be taken to help improve your mental health. I will work tirelessly to support you through an asset-based lens.
I am also available to guide
you through how
you can support your child through their struggles.
Family mediation can be helpful when communication has
broken down between members.
By utilizing a non-biased party,
I can assist in finding a positive
path for all to share.
Sometimes we have difficulties in our home where an expert's observation is necessary. I am happy to meet you and your family to discuss any concerns you might have, and work with you to find resolutions from a strengths-based perspective.
Based on interest, I will run a 6-week group to support the mental health needs of children.
Group topics can include:
- conflict resolution
- anger management
